Home Learning
Year 7
Diversity Project – over a course of 6 weeks, students will develop a fictional 2d or 3d town promoting inclusivity and diversity. This will be accompanied by a written report explaining the importance of equality. In addition, occasional home-learning throughout the academic year to further enhance classroom learning.
Year 8
Research project answering the Big Question “Should animals be used to benefit humans?” In addition, occasional home-learning throughout the academic year to further enhance classroom learning.
Year 9
Human Rights Project set over 6 weeks as well as occasional home-learning throughout the academic year to further enhance classroom learning.
How can parents support their child?
Years 7, 8 & 9
• By discussing topical issues and currents events to develop understanding and encourage critical response i.e. Anti-racism, equality, terrorism, disability, discrimination, climate change, online activity and identity.
• By encouraging reading as widely as possible from magazines and newspapers, online newspapers (e.g. The Day/Newsround) and taking an interest in the media /current affairs
• By maintaining positive communication
• By encouraging students to fundraise for charities
