Morning:
Parents are asked to drop their child at the appropriate gate for them to enter school on time. The 10 minutes of ‘soft-start’ should avoid excessive crowding.
Reception and Year 1 parents will be allowed into the playground initially then, once children know their classrooms, parents will be asked to say their goodbyes at the gate.
Afternoon:
Parents will be directed to line up on the street, in year group lines, for gradual entry into the playgrounds for home time collection. With the number of pupils at 840 now, unfortunately we cannot allow all parents in at one time. Please collect your youngest children first and bear with us to allow a safe, swift exit.
Travelling to school
We are committed to encouraging families and staff to walk or cycle to school. The main entrance to the school will be accessed from Perth Road. We have planned for cycle and scooter racks to encourage people to leave their cars at home. There will be no parking available on site except for disabled access and very limited parking in the vicinity of the school.
Food
Lunch time is a fantastic social gathering time and we expect all children to take a free hot school meal. Please let us know of any special food arrangements that your child might need. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will receive a free school meal at lunch time due to the Government’s universal free school meal initiative. However, if you qualify for free school meals, we urge you to complete an application as the school receives a substantial sum of money to provide additional support. If you have any difficulties completing this application please contact us and we will be happy to help.
Please see the menu at the end of this page.
At snack time milk is free for your child up until they are five years old. After this they can still order it at a small cost. You will need to register at www.coolmilk.com. Fruit and vegetables are provided free of charge daily. We will give your child a free water bottle in September and please make sure that it is filled with water only and brought to school every day.
Uniform
We have a lovely school uniform - blue, white and grey – and there is an expectation that all children wear this uniform. Our school outfitters sell our school uniform with the school logo and this can be purchased from Lucilla (179 Cranbrook Road, Ilford) and Rupens (100 Meads Lane, Ilford). Much of the school uniform (without the logos) can be purchased at any high street shop, but we expect you to purchase a sweatshirt/cardigan and the school book bag from one of our school suppliers.
Your child will also need a PE kit which they will bring in on Monday morning and keep at school until the end of the week in order that it can be washed and ready for the following week. Please also provide a sun hat in summer, warm clothing in winter, and, if possible, a pair of wellington boots to be kept in school as your child will be spending a lot of time outdoors.
Please make sure that all clothing and belongings have your child’s name on them. We have permanent markers in school that you can use. Please also be aware that we do not allow jewellery, only small stud earrings, which must be taken off on PE days.

Absence
School times are 9.00am-3.05pm but classroom doors open at 8.50am and children are welcome to enter the classrooms from that time. Please be on time. If you are late your child will have to come into school through the school office. Please let us know if your child will be absent due to sickness or other reasons. It is important that your child attends school as much as possible. Lynn Jago is our Attendance Officer.
Home Reading
We strongly encourage you to read daily with your child and we will be sending home books and short activities for you to read together. Please use the Home School Communication Book to keep a daily record.
