SEVEN KINGS TEACHING SCHOOL ALLIANCE SCHOOL DIRECT PLACES 2017-2018
Seven Kings Teaching School Alliance is proud to offer primary and secondary teacher salaried training through School Direct, a school-based teacher training route which is similar to the GTP. Trainees work alongside highly experienced classroom practitioners and have more of their training in school.
As a Teaching Alliance we have vast experience in Initial Teacher Training and are proud of our achievements in turning inexperienced trainees into outstanding teachers and leaders of the future. Many of our trainees now hold positions in middle and senior leadership roles. It is expected that trainees will go on to work within their host school or group of schools although there is no absolute guarantee of employment.
We are proud of our awarded Cradle to Grave programme of training and the exciting programmes we offer for ITT across our schools’ networks.
Our School Direct training is delivered in partnership with the Institute of Education (University of London) and the University of East London.
We offer two routes into teaching; a School Direct tuition fee route and a salaried one. At present we offer the following programmes:
School Direct Salaried
This is an employment-based route into teaching where the trainee is employed by the host school as an unqualified teacher. In the salaried route your fees are paid and you receive a salary of approximately £19,000 per year on a one year contract.
Candidates must be graduates with three or more years’ relevant experience but not necessarily in education.
School Direct Training Route (non-salaried)
This is a PGCE based course; in the tuition route you pay the fees of up to £9000.
Both courses last 1 year in length and all School Direct places will lead to qualified teacher status (QTS) but not a PGCE.
You are supported in both routes on the course within school and receive support and training by our HEIs as well. We place you in schools across our alliance; we are part of an alliance of schools (many of which are outstanding schools), which is looking to develop exceptional candidates into the outstanding teachers of the future.

School Direct Places
We are offering a mixture of salaried and non - salaried places in 2017/18 in the following subjects:
Salaried: Primary, Maths and Physics
Non Salaried:Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, Economics, Geography, History, Physics, Maths, MFL, ICT and Music
- Degree classification: 2:2 or above
- The degree must be in related academic subject area (secondary places)
- Grade C or above in GCSE English and Mathematics (primary applicants need a C in GCSE Science)
- For the salaried route, you must have at least three years of full-time work experience to be eligible to apply
- Trainees will be required to pass the skills tests before starting the course (preferably prior to interview). This will need to be completed by June 1st at the latest
- School experience (e.g. observation) before applying to the course is highly favourable
