Enrichment: Expert Speakers and Link Institutions
We have regular guest speakers from various industries and institutions – utilising our great links with various local London universities. Our speaker programme started with a series of sample lectures from Queen Mary ranging from Biological Engineering: ‘Rebuilding Human Bone’ to ‘Neuroscience: How injured is the brain?’ to ‘How to follow your passion and work in the Arts and Creative Industries’.
Following those, we had talks delivered by Kings College London, City University, the National Institute for Health Research, and Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry - we were even lucky enough to take part in a 2 day Virtual Science Festival, hosted by Barts and Queen Mary, including both informative talks and career sessions spanning various scientific disciplines, healthcare careers and more.

Apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships are becoming an increasingly popular option - recent alumni have achieved roles in incredibly prestigious companies in fields such as law, business, finance and real estate.
We are lucky to have a great link with Young Professionals company who support students in their process of seeking apprenticeships.
The Old Vic: Take the Lead
Two years running, we have been chosen for the ‘Take the Lead’ scheme delivered by the Old Vic Theatre, a scheme which equips students with employability skills through the use of drama activities.
Last March, they participated in the first of three interactive workshops, with a focus on ‘taking the lead’ and ‘finding your voice’, using drama to develop their confidence.
The students were incredible, bringing energy and enthusiasm - despite the workshop pushing some out of their comfort zone, every one of the participants rose to the challenge!
This year, with less restrictions in place, we are looking forward to an exciting launch event and a trip to the theatre, alongside the three workshops!
“The Take The Lead workshop was an amazing experience that really helped me gain confidence and made me think about the key skills employers look for in future employees. The workshop was very useful in demonstrating how to apply the skills to my everyday life and I will definitely be utilising it in the future” - Deborah Anjorin, Year 13
