Admissions Policy
All students are welcome to apply for the Sixth Form at Seven Kings School. Applications must be made using the official application form which must be completed online, on the school website between the dates specified.
Application forms for admission to the Sixth Form at Seven Kings will be available from January 2023. The closing date for applications - including completed references - will be 31st March 2023. Applications completed after this deadline will not be considered.
Seven Kings School plans to admit 250 students to Year 12 in the academic year commencing September 2023. This will however depend on the exact number of Year 11 students from Seven Kings School who wish to enter the Sixth Form (maximum possible number of Year 11 students from Seven Kings School is 180). Applicants are asked to note that the exact number admitted may turn out to be greater or less than 250. Since the spread of student numbers across all courses on offer is not always uniform - i.e. some subjects attract a greater number of applicants than others and therefore fill up quicker - it is not always possible to meet students' preferred subject choices even when the applicant's predicted grades suggest they will meet the school's academic criteria for entrance.
The exact number of students admitted to Year 12 in September 2023 will thus depend on the school's ability to accommodate the actual subject choices of the students who apply. Applicants are asked to note that an offer of a place in the Sixth Form does not mean that actual admission to the Sixth Form is thereby guaranteed; actual admission to the Sixth Form is almost always contingent on the applicant meeting the full entrance criteria of the school and for all the subjects for which s/he has applied.
Over subscription criteria
In the event of over subscription places will be offered in the order of priority that appears in the points below.
1. To applicants whose estimated GCSE grades indicate that they will meet the entrance criteria for all of their A level subject choices and where there are spaces on all of their chosen courses. In the event that this presents difficulties (for example where two or more applicants fulfil the entrance criteria and where giving a place to both / all of them would mean a course becoming over subscribed) then the place will be offered to the applicant with the higher/highest predicted GCSE grades in the subject(s) relevant to the application.
2. To applicants whose estimated GCSE grades indicate they will meet the entrance criteria for all of their A level subject choices but where there is no space on one of their chosen courses once the first criteria (1 above) has been applied and where the applicant is willing to accept a place on an alternative course i.e. one where there is space and they meet the entrance criteria.
3. To applicants whose estimated GCSE grades indicate they will meet the entrance criteria for all but one of their A level subject choices and where the applicant is willing to accept a place on an alternative course i.e. one where there is space and they meet the entrance criteria.
4. To applicants whose estimated GCSE grades indicate they will meet the entrance criteria for all but two of their A level subject choices and where the applicant is willing to accept a place on an alternative course i.e. one where there is space and they meet the entrance criteria.
5. To applicants whose estimated GCSE grades indicate they will meet the entrance criteria for only one of their A level subject choices and where the applicant is willing to accept a place on an alternative course i.e. one where there is space and they meet the entrance criteria.
If these criteria cannot solve the difficulties (for example if both / all applicants have identical predicted grades), place allocation will in the first instance be given to students from our secondary partner schools. If this fails to solve the difficulty, it will ultimately be determined by the distance from the school gates (Ley Street) that the applicant lives.
